Ball Watch Company Watches

Authorised retailer for Ball Watch Company Watches. We all have the American railways to thank for the creation of BALL watches. The introduction of a railway system in America brought about the need for truly accurate timekeeping. Especially when travelling in between distant cities, precision was extremely important. BALL watches were created for the railways and that means they had to be incredibly nearly flawless in their timekeeping. Today’s BALL watches are inspired by freedom, travel and facing adversity head-on. They feature fashionable designs appealing to modern consumers but the values of quality and accurate timekeeping are still key in the creation of BALL watches.

The History of BALL Watches

BALL watches are linked to the advent of the American railways. The introduction of a railway system meant that accurate timekeeping was required for both practical reasons and for safety. As each town kept its own local time based on the position of the sun, there were many complications when connecting distant cities by rail. It became difficult to avoid collisions and, in 1891, a collision in Ohio caused several deaths. This led to the appointment of Webb C. Ball as “Chief Time Inspector” – he set up tests and standards for all watches used on trains. His system helped to establish accuracy and uniformity in timekeeping. Webb C. Ball went on to focus his efforts on developing watches for the railroads using the standards he developed. It was his jewellery business in Cleveland which went on to become the Ball Watch Company that we know today.

Functional and Fashionable

Today Ball Watch Company is one of the most respected watch brands in the world. The general appearance of the watches has evolved however the company still keeps to the founding spirit of the brand – industrial function. Modern BALL watches continue Webb C. Ball’s quest for accuracy in timekeeping. When you become a part of the BALL family you can be sure you are getting a modern and fashionable watch you can rely on.
